"Port of Belize Limbo: A Call for Accountability and Resolution"

Belize City, Friday 5th May 2023

As Belizeans, we can no longer tolerate the constant bickering and back-and-forth between the Port of Belize Limited and the Christian Workers Union. The recent standoff between the two parties has left a cargo ship sitting idle at the port with as many as two hundred containers waiting to be offloaded, and customers across the country left without the goods they need.

The situation is not just frustrating, it is entirely unacceptable. Both sides need to come to the table and negotiate a conscientious agreement that will put an end to this unnecessary standoff. It is time for the Port of Belize Limited and the Christian Workers Union to work together to find a solution that is fair to everyone.

The Port of Belize Limited and the Christian Workers Union must put the interests of the Belizean people and the economy first. The current situation is not just hurting the union and the port, but it is also damaging the reputation of our country as a reliable trade partner.

It is time for the government to step in and help resolve this ongoing issue. As an essential service, the government must ensure that the port operates efficiently, and that goods are offloaded in a timely manner.

We call on the Port of Belize Limited and the Christian Workers Union to put their differences aside and work together to find a solution. Belizeans cannot continue to suffer due to the ongoing standoff between these two parties.

In conclusion, it is time for both the Port of Belize Limited and the Christian Workers Union to take responsibility and find a way to resolve this issue. The Belizean people and the economy are at stake, and we cannot afford to let this standoff continue any longer.
