On a momentous occasion, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermúdez made history by being the first Cuban President to visit Belize on Sunday. His visit is a clear testament to the strong bonds of friendship and camaraderie that have flourished between the two nations over the past two decades. The bilateral relationship between Belize and Cuba is an excellent example of diplomatic relations built on mutual respect, collaboration, and the sharing of ideals. The special sitting of Belize’s National Assembly in his honor is a clear indication of the warmth and eagerness with which his visit was received. Prime Minister John Briceño's remarks reflect the appreciation and gratitude of the Belizean people towards Cuba for their principled support of Belize's right to self-determination and territorial integrity. The two agreements signed during the bilateral meeting between President Bermudez and PM Briceno mark a new milestone in the already strong relationship between Belize and Cuba.
