The other side says the police are ineffective, corrupt, abusive, and incapable of protecting the public.

Both sides contain elements of truth.

The reality of policing in Belize is far more complex.

This problem is not only limited to a few bad actors but is now a systemic issue that permeates all levels of the department, from the highest-ranking to the lowest ranked officers. These corrupt individuals act with impunity, brazenly and shamelessly, with no respect for their uniforms or the laws they have sworn to uphold.

The Narco intel seemingly charted a brazen well-coordinated landing for a Sabreliner 65 Jet, which touched down and made a landing on a remote stretch of terrain 3 miles west northwest behind the village of Crooked Tree at around 2:00 am on Tuesday morning, delivering a payload of approximately 1 ton of cocaine to their on-the-ground handlers destined for the United States via Mexico.
