The spectacle of the United Democratic Party's (UDP) endorsement convention on Sunday certainly garnered attention, but upon closer examination, the numbers tell a different story. While the event was intended to showcase the UDP's strength and unity under Shyne Barrow's leadership, the reality is that the turnout represented less than 3% of Belize's total voter population.

Despite the party's nationwide efforts to organize the event, the actual attendance fell significantly short of expectations. Critics are quick to label the convention as a charade, highlighting its poor turnout as evidence that the UDP is not the political powerhouse it claims to be. This raises the question of whether the party's efforts are truly resonating with the wider public or if they are merely appealing to a small and dedicated base.
