Spanish Lookout was first established in 1958 when its founders relocated from the state of Chihuahua in northern Mexico. Ten years before heading to Mexico, they had relocated from Manitoba, Canada.

The Mennonites are a group of Christian Anabaptists who originated in the 16th century in Europe. They are known for their beliefs in pacifism, community, and simplicity. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, many Mennonites migrated from Europe to North and South America.

In the mid-20th century, a group of Mennonites migrated from Canada to Mexico in search of cheaper land and a more rural lifestyle. However, they faced discrimination and persecution in Mexico, which led them to migrate again, this time to Belize in 1958.

The Mennonite community in Belize initially settled in the area that is now known as Spanish Lookout. They established an agricultural community and began farming the land. However, they faced many challenges, including a lack of infrastructure and resources.

Despite these challenges, the Mennonites persevered and were able to establish successful farms and businesses. Today, the Mennonite community in Belize is known for its contributions to the agriculture sector, particularly in the areas of poultry and dairy farming. They are also major suppliers of hardware, equipment, and parts.

The Mennonites have made significant contributions to the Belizean economy over the years, and their success has helped to support the growth and development of the country. The Spanish Lookout community's 65th anniversary is a testament to their resilience and hard work, and a celebration of their many achievements.
